The Blue Jays’ minor league clubs were 3-1 with only the Buffalo Bisons losing in a rain-shortened loss.


 

Buffalo Bisons 1, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 4

 

The Buffalo Bisons and the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders had their game shortened due to rain and the Bisons came out on the short end, losing 4-1.

Ryan Tepera started the game on his rehab assignment and threw a scoreless first inning, hitting a batter and striking out one. Sean Reid-Foley followed and continued to struggle on his 2019 season, allowing four runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. Dusty Isaacs stranded the bases loaded and walked one and gave up a hit, striking out one.

Jordan Patterson provided all of the Bisons’ scoring, hitting a solo home run in the second inning and Bo Bichette hit a double for the Bisons’ only other hit. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walked in the first inning and was 0/1.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Hartford Yard Goats 2

After being doubled up by the Hartford Yard Goats on Thursday, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats returned the favour on Friday, beating the Yard Goats 4-2.

Zach Logue kept things together, giving up two runs on six hits and three walks with a home run against him, racking up five strikeouts and 86 pitches in 4 2/3 innings. Jake Fishman got the win, allowing just a hit over 2 1/3 innings with a strikeout and Kirby Snead got the save, allowing a hit and striking out two in two innings.

Alberto Mineo led the club with two hits including a double, an RBI and a run as he pushed his batting average to .346 while Forrest Wall was 1/2 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch but he was also caught stealing twice. Kevin Smith was 1/4 with a run and Chad Spanberger was 1/4 with a run. Vinny Capra was 1/3 with a walk and an RBI while Kacy Clemens was 1/4 with an RBI.

Dunedin Blue Jays 8, Bradenton Marauders 6

The Dunedin Blue Jays brought the lumber and held off a late-charging Bradenton Marauders team to take their record to 6-3 with an 8-6 win.

Justin Dillon had the start, going six innings and giving up four runs on eight hits (including a home run) without walking anyone and striking out one. William Ouellette tossed two innings, giving up four hits including a home run and two runs with two strikeouts and Matt Shannon earned the save, throwing a perfect ninth, striking out one.

Kevin Vicuna was 3/3 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run while Norberto Obeso was 3/4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Christian Williams added a solo home run, going 1/4 with an RBI, a walk and two runs while Ryan Noda was 1/4 with a walk, an RBI and a run. Chavez Young was 1/4 with a walk, a run and an outfield assist.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, South Bend Cubs 4

 

The Lansing Lugnuts opened their series in South Bend by winning a see-saw battle against the Cubs, coming out on top with a 5-4 win after scoring a run in the top of the ninth to break the tie.

Alejandro Kirk had a monster game for the Lugnuts, blasting his second home run of the season and going 3/5 with an RBI and three runs. Jordan Groshans also hit a home run, his first in A-ball, going 1/3 with two RBI and a walk. Jake Brodt was 1/3 with a walk that led off the ninth and Reggie Pruitt stole a base and scored the winning run on a single by D.J. Neal who was 2/4 with an RBI.

Sean Wymer started for the Lugnuts, going 6 1/3 innings and was charged with four runs on seven hits with two walks and had five strikeouts. Connor Law took over, allowing the inherited runner he took over from Wymer to score but otherwise provided 2 2/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing four hits and striking out four to earn the win.
